ABOUT ME

My name is Kimball Goss, I am a student attending Utah State University and I am studying Drones and UAS with a minor in Engineering. I have had years of experience working with mechanical machines, metal fabrication, drones and even some electronics and programming. I am a project oriented person, I derive a sense of gratification by seeing a project all the way through till the end, and making sure it meets all of the goals it was founded upon.

I am self motivated and passionate about engineering. I often engage on my own projects to further push my knowledge and learning. From building my own Remote Control airplanes, boats, firearms, and drones, to developing my own self contained and computer controlled terrarium, I am willing to try anything, and see it through.

I also have a passion for making things not only functional, but beautiful. A design that not only works but is pleasing to look at makes us appreciate the fine details and effort that has gone into a project.

METAL WORK/DESIGN

I've worked many years at a company called "Pedestal Pro" which specializes in metal fabrication and manufacturing. They build mounting solutions for security devices like cameras, keypads, and card readers. Here I've worked every position from shipping, fabrication and production, to custom project engineer. Not only have I learned skills like SolidWorks, MIG Welding, and TIG Welding, but I've also developed an understanding of the manufacturing process which no other students has.

I was able to follow custom projects for Air Force, Disney, Google and Facebook from conception, to completion. I was there for every broken tap and mis-cut. This kind of experience will help be give you a 3D model that is optimized for manufacturability and ease of construction that only professional engineering firms can provide.

ROCKETRY

I've been passionate about rocketry ever since I was a kid. I still remember watching a space shuttle launch in my first grade classroom, and thinking "I want to do THAT"  I've been building cardboard rockets and paper airplanes ever since!

I've gained my level 1 High power rocketry certification and  am currently working on my rocket for a level 2 certification.

NASA, SpaceX, Boeing, United Launch Alliance, Lockheed Martin, and even Kerbal Space Program have all been at the center of my attention since middle school, and I've learned something useful from each of them. I hope to work at companies like these in my future. I want to be one of those people who are pushing the human race forward in our exploration of space.

DRONES

I've been building drones and RC aircraft since high school where I was the "Aerial RC Club" founder and president. My knack for piloting and tinkering has made this hobby into one of my favorite past times. I currently work for a drone company on a daily basis verifying their app and auto-pilot features for DJI products. I've also designed and 3D printed my own drone parts and re-furbish and fly my own drones on the side, and I love to make videos with the drone footage I capture.
